About

  • Hello, and thank you for stopping by.

I’m a tutor, teacher, and guide dedicated to helping students succeed in college admissions and excel on their AP exams. Before I explain how I work, I’ll briefly share my background.

    • University of Notre Dame — B.A., Theology
    • Arizona State University — M.A., English
    • Texas A&M University — J.D.

After completing my undergraduate degree, I taught in a large public school district in Texas. I later attended law school, graduated, and practiced law for approximately ten years. During that time, I ran a successful small law firm specializing in criminal defense and personal injury. Eventually, the stress, pace, and adversarial nature of the legal system led me to make a decision most people would not—I resigned my law license and returned to education, where I work today.

Throughout my adult life, one theme has remained constant: the power of education. I saw it in the clients I defended and in the students I teach. Those who develop strong critical-thinking skills consistently perform better—academically, professionally, and personally. These skills are built through education, close reading, and, especially, writing.

My focus is teaching students how to think clearly and express those thoughts effectively. That means learning how to organize ideas, construct arguments, analyze complex texts, and write with clarity and confidence. We work on analyzing authors’ choices, understanding difficult material, and developing original, well-reasoned perspectives.

My goal is not simply to help students “pass” a class or earn a good grade—though those outcomes often follow. Instead, I focus on the root skills: how to analyze a prompt, identify multiple angles, form an independent opinion, and communicate that thinking in a well-crafted essay. When students can do that, they are prepared not just for exams, but for almost anything life puts in front of them.

To borrow a familiar phrase, I don’t just want to help students eat—I want to teach them how to fish.
